When I envision the women of the 30s through the 60s, the image that typically comes to mind is that of extreme glamour. I think of Marilyn Monroe, the Hollywood starlet, to the average housewife in her worn-in day dress. The fashion was bright, well-fitted, and utterly feminine. Even a trip to the supermarket called for you to look your very best. I have always had a fascination with the way women of the time had hair waved perfectly, the intricacies of the lingerie worn nearly every day, and the subtle, yet sultry sway of a woman in a wiggle dress. All women, no matter their status, exuding a special kind of effortless elegance. 

I often think to myself how I wish this kind of glamorous, everyday wear would come back into mainstream style. I love the way vintage makes me feel - curve-hugging dresses, dainty gloves, intricate undergarments, stockings... I know I certainly am not the only one either. There is a beautiful world full of vintage lover's just like me and even more so, many people who have never been exposed to the style or don't know where to find it. That brings me to my vision... 

The Proper Pinup is an online boutique with a focus on the glamorous fashions of 1930s though the 60s. We will house modern-day reproductions from some of my favorite brands that I already have in my wardrobe. I also can't wait to share unique and authentic vintage items with this community that I currently have in my personal collection and those I find in the future.
